How does the booking process work?

  1. Initially you can either call us for a friendly chat or fill out the online form to express interest in booking the Dancing Birds. At this point we will need some basic information regarding the event, for example:
    • Date
    • Location
    • Band configuration
    • Photography
  2. Following that we will send you a booking form to fill out and request a 20% deposit.
  3. As soon as we receive your confirmation and the deposit the band will be locked in for your event.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, we require you to pay a deposit. This gives both parties a sense of security and is very much industry standard.

When do I pay the balance?

FOR BANDS – You can pay the balance of the fee anytime before or up to the day of the event when booking the band.

FOR PHOTO/FILM/DESIGN – You can pay the balance of the fee anytime before the event or up 5 days after receiving your package.

Does the band have its own PA system?

Yes the band brings everything it needs to the event.

Can we use a microphone for speeches?

Yes, we are happy for you to use our microphone throughout the night for speeches. We can also provide a wireless microphone upon request.

What if my event is located out of town?

The Dancing Birds are used to travel and we are more than happy to drive several hours for an event.

How far will the band travel?

If the band has to drive more than 3 hours we would normally appreciate the option of accommodation for a night. Part of this will be included in your fee. If the band needs to fly, we do our very best to secure the cheapest travel costs to be reimbursed by the client.

How long does the band play for?

Generally the band will perform 3-5 sets lasting approximately 45mins each.

This can include intimate acoustic/ jazzy sets for cocktails followed by more up beat dance sets.

How much time does the band need to set up and sound check?

Depending on the event the band can be set up very quickly. For example, at a standard wedding function the band can be set up in 30minutes, however it is always advisable to allow at least one hour.

What type of music does the band play?

What ever you want! We tend to specialize in music ranging contemporary, top 40, classic rock, soul, Motown, funk and blues… music that everyone knows and loves.

Is the music at weddings different to a corporate event?

That really depends on what you are trying to achieve with your event.
We can customize ourselves to suit most situations.

Does the band take requests?

Absolutely, the band has such a vast repertoire of songs that it is highly likely that we know all the songs you would like to hear at your event. We are also happy to take requests during the performance from guests if you feel it is appropriate.

Male singer or female singer?

This is a personal choice, however our female singers do not play instruments, therefore if you are looking to book a 3 piece band it is suggested you go with a male singer who plays guitar accompanied by bass and drums.

Can the band play acoustic music during the ceremony or at the start of a night?

Yes, the band is very good at enhancing the intimate moments.
For example we can offer you many choices including, solo acoustic guitar and vocal, string quartet or small jazz band.

Do I need to feed the band?

It is an industry standard to feed the band.

Does the band provide background music when they are not playing?

Yes, the band can provide background music via an iPod.
We are also happy to play your music through our PA system if you would like.

Can the band perform MC duties during the event?

Yes, our lead singers or as we like to call them “front-men” have a lot of skill and class when it comes to MC duties. You can feel very confident in booking one of us for this role. Please note there will be an added cost.

Can the band perform our bridal waltz?

If given enough time the band would be happy to perform live your bridal waltz.
However we do recommend that if you have choreographed a specific dance routine to a recording then it’s best to use that.
